RaceSchool.com Podcast Santino Ferrucci Helmet Design Interview

Santino Ferrucci is known for not only having a stellar finishing record at the Indy 500, but also for having fun with his helmet designs. Some drivers go their entire career with the same helmet design. Ferrucci has multiple designs that he uses every year. For 2026, we caught up with Ferrucci in his AJ Foyt Racing Team transporter at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach where he generously gave of his time and an explanation of his super cool helmet design for this year. With America’s 250th birthday coming up, he did something special. We thought that this would be the perfect time to show it off. Enjoy!

NOTE: Santino Ferrucci has earned three, top-ten finishes this year already including the Indy 500 and the race at Road America.

Santino Ferrucci in his stars and stripes Homes For Our Troops driver’s suit, waves to the fans just prior to the start of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Inspired by the movie Top Gun, Ferrucci’s overall helmet design is to reflect that of a fighter pilot. As you’ll see in the following pictures – he nailed it!
The lightning bolts and fighter jet add spark to his design.
His initials are resplendent in red, white and blue.
Similar to the left side, you can also see the faux helmet swivel design of an open-faced fighter pilot’s helmet.
Great angular stripes, his sponsor as well as his fresh air intake highlight the rear design.
The matte black bare carbon fiber look on the bottom of the front of Ferrucci’s helmet helps to make it look like an open-faced design.
Not to be outdone by his suit or helmet, Ferrucci’s HFOT-sponsored car is the perfect representation of the nation’s patriotism. Happy Birthday, USA!
