40+ years of racecraft.
One driver at a time.
From the first SCCA driving schools to the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Grand Prix, FastLane has spent four decades teaching people to race. Today that heritage lives on as 100% private, 1:1 instruction at Buttonwillow Raceway Park.
A racing school with real history
For more than 40 years, FastLane has been teaching people to race, built by racers, not marketers. Our founder, Danny McKeever, has shaped the sport since its early days: he helped launch the first SCCA Solo-1 driving school at Riverside Raceway, served as Chief Instructor of the California Sports Car Club racing school, and for over twenty years trained every driver in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro/Celebrity Race, a partnership that ran two decades at Long Beach.
In 1994 he founded FastLane as the official racing school of Toyota Motorsports and pioneered some of the first SCCA race-licensing programs in the country. That same expertise has trained more than 600 law-enforcement officers through Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC) and supported 100+ film and TV productions over the years. FastLane went on to serve as the official race school of Willow Springs International Raceway for more than thirty years before making Buttonwillow Raceway Park its home track, with the same fundamentals, taught the same way: privately, by people who race.
Four decades on track
- 1974
Where it started
Danny McKeever became Chief Instructor of the California Sports Car Club racing school, a role he held for twelve years. Earlier still, he helped start the first SCCA Solo-1 driving school at Riverside Raceway, writing time-trial rules that shaped the sport.
- 1986
The Long Beach years
Danny took over as Chief Instructor for the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pro/Celebrity Race, training every driver on the grid (pros and Hollywood names alike) for more than two decades.
- 1994
FastLane is born
Danny founded FastLane Racing School as the official racing school of Toyota Motorsports, and pioneered some of the first SCCA race-licensing programs in the country.
- 30+ yrs
The Willow Springs era
FastLane became, and remained, the official race school of Willow Springs International Raceway for over thirty years, growing from a single circuit into a nationwide racing-education organization.
- 2021
Home at Buttonwillow, new leadership
FastLane made Buttonwillow Raceway Park its home track (a premier road course with 40+ configurations, a new FIA-standard layout, and on-site facilities in California's Kern County), named Sandy Mahle CEO, and expanded into data-driven driver development and emerging-vehicle (EV and autonomous) training.
- Today
Private, 1:1, every day
FastLane runs out of Buttonwillow Raceway Park, a fast, technical circuit where our 45+ coaches deliver 100% private, one-on-one instruction every day.
A real racing school, built around you
We don't run cohort classes or arrive-and-drive sessions. Every day is private, coached lap by lap, at the track where the pros run.
Private by design
Every FastLane day is one-on-one with a professional racing coach, tailored to your skill and goals, never a classroom cohort or a shared track session. No groups. No crowds. No compromises.
SCCA-accredited
FastLane helped pioneer the first SCCA race-licensing programs, and our path remains a recognized, accessible route to a real SCCA competition license, backed by 40+ years of motorsports education.
Real machinery
Ligier JS F4 formula cars, the Lola T93/20 Indy Lights, Spec Corvette, Radical SR1, and Toyota GR86: you drive the real thing, prepped and track-ready.
Coaches who race
Our roster of 45+ coaches brings genuine race and podium experience to every session, the same caliber of instruction FastLane built training pros and celebrities at Long Beach.
