RaceSchool.com Podcast Mason Filippi Interview

Mason Filippi is a young driver who’s racing the DXDT Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the GTD category in the IMSA WeatherTech Series. He’s teamed up with former IndyCar driver Robert Wickens for all the races that require driver changes. We caught up with Filippi at the 2026 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, where he was preparing to do a track walk in advance of his first time on the track. In this interview, he talks about the importance of a track walk, his racing background, and the challenge of not only learning a new track, but going from the two longest endurance races at Daytona and Sebring into the sprint at Long Beach. Enjoy!

Mason Filippi has won multiple races in his career and is really enjoying the high horsepower, torque, and rear-wheel-drive of the Corvette GT3 race car.
One benefit of a track walk, is learning how much curb you can use to maximize speed and minimize lap time.
Although his teammate, Robert Wickens, put the ‘Vette on the front row (second) for the race, the duo faded to sixth at the finish.
