Sportsland SUGO is a multi-discipline motorsport complex in the town of Murata, Miyagi Prefecture, in the Tohoku region of northern Japan. Opened in May 1975 and owned by Yamaha Motor Company, it is one of the largest motorsports facilities in the country, spanning roughly 2.1 million square meters. Beyond its headline road course, the venue packs in a motocross track, a trials course, and a go-kart circuit, making it a true all-around home for car and motorcycle competition.

The international car circuit measures 3.704 km (2.302 miles) across 12 turns, with a 704.5-meter main straight and a dramatic total elevation change of nearly 70 meters per lap. Carved into hilly woodland, SUGO is known for its steep gradients, blind crests, and demanding rhythm, a layout that rewards commitment and precise car control far more than raw straight-line speed. Few Japanese circuits ask as much of a driver's nerve through their undulations.

That technical character is exactly why SUGO matters to drivers. It hosts Super GT and Super Formula, with a long history of premier motorcycle racing including World Superbike, and the lap record stands to Nick Cassidy in a Dallara SF19. For students and enthusiasts, it is a benchmark for learning car placement, throttle discipline, and confidence over elevation, the kind of skills that separate quick lap times from clean, repeatable ones.
