Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is a legendary motorsport circuit set in the forested Ardennes hills near Stavelot, Belgium. The modern Grand Prix layout runs 7.004 km (4.352 miles) over 19 turns, making it one of the longest and most demanding tracks in world motorsport. It is famous for dramatic elevation changes, fast sweeping corners, and unpredictable weather that can leave one part of the circuit dry while another is soaked in rain.
Opened in August 1921 and originally laid out on public roads stretching more than 14 km, Spa has been shortened and refined over the decades into the permanent circuit raced today. Its signature sequence, the Eau Rouge and Raidillon uphill complex, is widely regarded as one of the greatest corners in racing, and other landmarks such as Pouhon and the Bus Stop chicane test commitment and precision lap after lap.
For drivers, Spa is a true rite of passage. The combination of high speeds, blind crests, and a flowing rhythm rewards bravery, smooth inputs, and a deep understanding of racing lines. It continues to host the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix along with the Spa 24 Hours, the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Spa, and a wide range of GT and endurance events, cementing its place as one of the benchmark circuits that every serious driver aspires to master.
