Silverstone Circuit

Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in central England, set on the Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire border near the villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. Known as the Home of British Motor Racing, it was built on the runways and perimeter roads of a former World War II Royal Air Force bomber base, RAF Silverstone, and it has been a fixture of top-level racing since hosting the British Grand Prix in 1948.

The modern Grand Prix layout runs 3.661 miles (5.891 km) over 18 turns and rewards bravery and commitment more than almost any other circuit on the calendar. Its signature is the high-speed Maggotts, Becketts and Chapel complex, a rapid-fire left-right-left-right sequence where cars pull sustained lateral g-forces, flanked by fast corners such as Copse and Stowe and long full-throttle straights. The flat, sweeping character demands precise car balance, smooth inputs and the confidence to carry big speed through blind, committed corners.

For drivers, Silverstone is a benchmark of skill and a piece of living history. It staged the first round of the inaugural Formula One World Championship in 1950 and has hosted the British Grand Prix permanently since 1987, alongside the British round of MotoGP and a deep calendar of sports car, single-seater and historic racing. Learning the rhythm of its fast corners is one of the great rites of passage in motorsport, which is why it remains a defining proving ground for anyone serious about driving.
