New Hampshire Motor Speedway

New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a 1.058-mile paved oval located in Loudon, New Hampshire, about an hour north of Boston. Often called "The Magic Mile," it is the largest sports and entertainment facility in New England, sitting on roughly 1,200 acres. Beyond the signature oval, the complex includes a 1.6-mile road course, a quarter-mile mini oval, and a quarter-mile dirt flat track, making it a true multi-discipline venue.

The oval is known for its relatively flat, low-banked corners, with progressive banking of only a few degrees in the turns and nearly flat straights. This layout rewards mechanical grip, precise braking, and patient corner entry rather than raw downforce, which makes it a demanding and instructive track for drivers learning car control and racecraft. The road course adds a technical 12-turn layout that blends sections of the oval with infield esses, popular with motorcycle and club racers.

The facility traces its roots to 1965 as Bryar Motorsports Park before businessman Bob Bahre rebuilt it into the current speedway, which opened in 1990. It hosts a NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs round, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and the long-running Loudon Classic motorcycle event, and previously welcomed open-wheel CART and IndyCar competition. For aspiring racers, its accessible flat oval and varied configurations offer an ideal environment to build fundamentals before stepping up to higher-speed circuits.
