Circuit Paul Ricard is one of the circuits FastLane can run a private program at on request. It is not a FastLane base of operation. Our home track is Buttonwillow Raceway Park , where most days run.
Circuit Paul Ricard is a permanent road racing facility in Le Castellet, in the Var department of southern France, between Marseille and Toulon. Opened in April 1970 and named for the pastis magnate who funded it, the track sits on a sun-drenched plateau and has long been one of Europe's premier testing and racing venues. The full Grand Prix configuration runs 5.842 km (3.630 mi) over 15 turns, though the circuit is famously modular and offers more than a dozen layout combinations to suit everything from open-wheel cars to GT and endurance machinery.
The circuit's signature feature is its vast, painted run-off areas. Instead of gravel traps, Paul Ricard uses a blue-and-red striped abrasive surface designed to slow cars safely, which makes it one of the most recognizable and forgiving tracks in the world. The long Mistral Straight, named for the regional wind, is a defining stretch where drivers reach very high speeds before heavy braking zones test car balance and confidence. This blend of fast sweepers, technical sections, and generous safety margins makes it a prized destination for driver development and high-performance instruction.
For drivers, Paul Ricard matters because it has hosted the Formula One French Grand Prix across several eras, the Bol d'Or endurance motorcycle race, the European Le Mans Series, GT World Challenge Europe, and countless professional test programs. Its FIA Grade 1 rating, predictable surface, and reconfigurable layouts let students build skills progressively, from clean racing lines on shorter loops to flat-out commitment on the full circuit. Few tracks combine this much racing history with this much margin for learning.
