High Plains Raceway is one of the circuits FastLane can run a private program at on request. It is not a FastLane base of operation. Our home track is Buttonwillow Raceway Park , where most days run.
High Plains Raceway is a permanent road racing circuit located on the high plains east of Byers, Colorado, about an hour from Denver. The 2.55 mile full course winds through 15 turns and packs more than 300 feet of cumulative elevation change into every lap, with a high point above 5,000 feet, a long 2,838 foot main straight, and the technical, off camber Plains Corkscrew that drivers single out as the layout's signature challenge. Multiple shorter configurations, including a west, north, and short course, let the facility run several groups at once.
The track opened in 2009 and was built by the Colorado Amateur Motorsports Association, a coalition of local car and motorcycle clubs that pooled resources to give the region its own member owned racing home. That community origin still shapes the venue, which is busy year round with everything from track days and driving schools to wheel to wheel competition. It has become a staple of club and regional racing in the Rocky Mountain area.
For drivers, High Plains rewards commitment and precision. The constant elevation changes, blind crests, and the demanding Corkscrew make it an ideal place to build car control and read a track that does not give up easy lap time. Thin high altitude air also tests both engines and braking, which makes it a genuinely instructive circuit for students stepping up from novice sessions toward competition licensing.
