Autodromo Nazionale Monza

Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a 3.6 mile (5.793 km) permanent road circuit set inside the Royal Villa of Monza park, just north of Milan in the Lombardy region of Italy. Built in 1922, it is one of the oldest purpose-built motor racing circuits in the world and the oldest in mainland Europe, ranking behind only Brooklands and Indianapolis. Drivers and fans know it as "the Temple of Speed" thanks to its long straights and high-speed corners, and it remains the fastest track on the modern Formula One calendar.

The Grand Prix layout is famous for its simple, flowing character: a handful of corner complexes connected by some of the longest full-throttle straights in racing. Landmark sections include the Curva Grande, the two Curve di Lesmo, the Variante Ascari, and the Curva Parabolica, now named Curva Alboreto. Cars approach the first chicane at well over 200 mph before heavy braking, which puts a premium on braking stability, traction, and confidence at speed. The historic high-speed banked oval still stands within the park as a monument to the circuit's early decades.

Monza has hosted the Italian Grand Prix almost every year since 1949 and over its history has welcomed sports car endurance racing, the Race of Two Worlds, Grand Prix motorcycle racing, and a long list of touring car and single-seater series.
