The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, known simply as Imola, is a 3.05-mile (4.909 km) permanent road course in the town of Imola in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, about 40 km east of Bologna. Named after Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari and his son Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, the circuit first hosted racing in 1953 and holds an FIA Grade One licence, the top tier of motorsport homologation. Its current Grand Prix layout features 19 turns.
Imola is one of the most storied circuits in the sport, famous for its old-school, anti-clockwise flow and demanding sequence of corners such as Tamburello, Acque Minerali, and the Variante Alta. It hosted the San Marino Grand Prix from 1981 to 2006 and returned to Formula One in 2020 as the home of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, a track widely regarded as a home race for nearby Ferrari. The circuit also carries solemn history as the site of the 1994 weekend that claimed the lives of Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna, events that reshaped modern motorsport safety.
For drivers, Imola rewards precision, commitment, and respect for the track. Tight chicanes, fast undulating sections, and unforgiving kerbs leave little room for error, which is exactly why it remains a benchmark for car control and racecraft. Beyond Formula One, the venue hosts the FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Imola, the European Le Mans Series, and has welcomed the Superbike World Championship, World Touring Car Championship, and many other series over its long history.
