As leaders in the driver training industry, FAST LANE developed a one day behind-the-wheel advanced skills course. This progressive course is designed to give drivers real-world driving experience in a controlled and safe environment. We teach everything from proper seating position in the car to emergency braking techniques to accident avoidance maneuvers as well as responsibilities as a driver and dangers of driving while distracted. Our goal is to give drivers hands on training to better prepare them for situations they may encounter out on the road.

Auto manufacturers continue to improve safety technology 'under the hood', and we think it's time to apply that same focus to improving the safety equipment 'behind the wheel'... THE DRIVER.
According to police reports,
82% of teen accidents
are caused by "DRIVER ERROR "
WHAT IS TAUGHT IN CLASS?
The Defensive Driving Academy consists of 45 minutes classroom time in the morning and 30 minutes after lunch and the rest of the time is spent driving. Active safety techniques and advanced skid control exercises builds on the basic knowledge from traditional driver training. The goal is for every DDA graduate to leave the class with a new understanding and respect for driving that could one day prevent an avoidable accident.
For example, skid control exercise show students how to recognize when their car may be out of control, or going into a skid, and what to do to correct for it. Accident avoidance manuevers get drivers to think ahead as they learn just how to make a sudden move while maintaining control of their vehicle. After going through these maneuvers in a safe environment with the guidance of professional instructors, new drivers are more prepared for the public roads.
INSTRUCTORS
DDA participants are all different and our professional instructors are careful to work with each participant at their own individual level. Defensive Driving Academy's instructors' backgrounds include accomplished race car drivers, retired law enforcement, automotive educators and more. These seasoned veterans are hand picked for two reasons... First, they have an extensive knowledge of car control and vehicle dynamics. Second, and most important, they have demonstrated an extraordinary talent and passion for teaching. DDA instructors also work hard to create a fun learning environment to put even the most timid student at ease.
One out of three teens has an accident
during their first year of driving.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
New drivers should have a minimum of three months of driving experience. They need to feel comfortable behind-the-wheel of their vehicle so they aren't overwhelmed when engaging in DDA's highly developed exercises.
WHAT CAN PARENTS DO DURING CLASS?
Parents are encouraged to attend this course with their teen and invited to participate in the interactive Parent Coaching Seminar at no additional cost. This seminar has valuable information on the driver training process, including coaching tips, driving techniques, and how to work with your new drivers. Studies show that parental involvement increases the success rate of a teen driver, so make sure to work as a team during the entire process.
YOUNG DRIVERS: THE STATISTICS
Teen drivers are high risk drivers. Period. Automobile crashes are still the leading cause of death of teenagers and we must work toward changing that. If this course saves just one driver from a potentially deadly crash, then we've done our job. We will continue to educate and train drivers to keep families safe.
